Highly qualified and experienced Psychologists: All LPP psychologists are Medicare registered practitioners and hold current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA), which is the national registration and regulation body for psychologists.

In addition, LPP psychologists are members of the peak professional association, The Australian Psychologist Society (APS) and depending on areas of expertise and professional interests they may be members of additional relevant bodies and affiliations, such as the APS College of Clinical Psychology. All these bodies have strict requirements of entry as well as yearly professional training requirements and standards of practice and conduct. So you can be assured that when you are working with an LPP psychologist, you are working with professionals who are among the best in the field.

To find out more about our qualifications and areas of expertise, feel free to contact us and Jenny Makros, the LPP Practice Director, will personally respond to your call or email.

Compassion and respect. A trusting therapeutic relationship is based on attentive listening, open communication, understanding, acceptance and mutual respect. These are essential ingredients in effective therapy and facilitate learning and growth.

Confidentiality and discretion. We recognise that having the freedom to address difficult issues requires disclosing information about yourself that you can only feel comfortable doing in a safe environment. Confidentiality is highly valued in the therapy. Psychologists are bound by a strict code of conduct that ensures any information you disclose will remain confidential and private while at the same time ensuring your safety and that of others is not compromised. . Your therapist will discuss confidentiality with you in the first session.

A recognition that you and your circumstances are unique. Each person’s experience, needs and ‘map’ of the world is very individual. As such, you will be working with your consulting psychologist to identify your needs and tailor treatment to meet your individual goals. You will be exploring and clarifying the direction you want your life to take, identify current obstacles and set goals for change that you can work towards in therapy.

A collaborative approach. Psychologists have knowledge and expertise in human behaviour, psychological processes and mechanisms that bring about positive change. However, no-one knows your story better than you, so while your therapist will guide the process, you will work together to determine the content, depth and direction of therapy.

Evidence-based, focused therapy. While there is a broad range of approaches used by psychologists, we will only use therapies and strategies that are supported by scientific research and have been shown to be effective with the type of issues you wish to address.
